What a treat. 6 Music regulars Ivan Campo in their full trio mode gave us a night to remember. Their exuberance and love for their music shone through. A lovely bunch of humans with brilliant songettes that came thick and fast. All beautifully arranged and played. The stories and between song chat was top notch.
They played songs from their extensive recording career and they were all just right.
We got to hear the stories everyone wanted to hear about their name, Adam’s Dad’s passion for Bolton Wanderers and the day they met the man himself. Their trip to Spain to appear on a top TV show and the presenter’s green room visit in his underpants was told with perfect comic timing.
They played their big hit – The Great Procrastinator, that featured in the ‘kiddy drama’ Skins!
The set list was pieced together live as the night went on, from Adam’s little notebook. Heaven knows how they kept track of what they’d played but I don’t remember them playing anything twice.
Another mix of regulars and newbies and delicious food from Bev….who’d only landed back in the UK that morning topped off a delightful evening. We’d love to have these guys back some time.
